This program will discuss the purpose of estate planning, the process employed in planning an estate, the documents which are typically encountered in or prepared for an estate plan, the necessity and impact of probate on the estate plan, and other factors which affect an estate plan, such as elective shares, homestead, family allowances, exempt property, special needs trusts, pre-nuptial agreements, disclaimers, taxes and costs. Speakers:
Mr. Clark Jay Bormann
the managing partner of Bormann, Myerchin, Monasky & Espeseth, LLP, is a graduate of the University of South Dakota (B.A. 1975, J. D. 1978). He practiced law in South Dakota for 10 years before moving to Bismarck in 1988. He is a member of the North Dakota and South Dakota State Bar Associations, the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), and the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association. He is licensed to practice in the Federal District Courts of both Dakotas, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has been certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1990 and serves as North Dakota Coordinator for NBTA. His practice emphasizes litigation, personal injury, wills and estate planning.
Ms. Denitsa M Heinrich
graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in May 2010, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers. While in law school, Denitsa served as a Teaching Assistant for the Lawyering Skills and Academic Success programs and was the Student Articles Editor for the North Dakota Law Review. After graduation, Denitsa served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Muehlen Maring of the North Dakota Supreme Court. In August 2011, Denitsa began a two-year term as a law clerk to the Honorable Kermit E. Bye of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Denitsa received her B.A. degree in Political Science and English Literature from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and worked as the International Exchange Programs Coordinator for Concordia Language Villages for a number of years before attending law school.Denitsa is originally from Bulgaria.
